Romanii In Spatiu, or Romanians In Space is the third game from Romanian developer 2 Bad Design. The game features a re-designed game engine, supporting dynamic lighting, full anti-aliasing, pixel shader technology, high resolution textures (4k x 4k) and detailed models.

Your missions include insurgency into unknown systems, defense of home planets, low-orbit maneuvers and high-orbit patrol. You will be piloting several fighter-class ships as well as taking control of some heavily armed destroyers. This is a universe that lets you move freely through it, exploring everything you want, and mass-killing Alien scum in the process.

The game kicked up some controversy regarding its story prior to its release back in 2006. However, cooler heads prevailed, and they all found the game to be just a (nasty) joke instead of the proposed nationalist agenda.

An absolute minimum configuration to run the game:
- Microsoft Windows Vista (not tested), XP (SP2), 2000 (SP4), Millennium Edition or 98 (SE)
- Initially we thought that an AMD Athlon 1,2 Ghz or Intel Pentium 4 1,5 Ghz CPU was required but it seems the game runs fine on a Pentium 2 400 Mhz. You be the judge.
- 256 MB of RAM
- nVidia GeForce 4 MX440 or better.
- Microsoft DirectX 9.0 or later (yes, it's 9)
- A DirectSound compatible sound card

In addition, a (seems not so) recommended setup would feature:
- AMD Athlon 64, AMD Athlon XP 2500+, Intel Pentium 4 2,4 Ghz or faster
- 1 GB of RAM
- ATI Radeon 9700 or nVidia GeForceFX 5900 with 128 MB

The game is available for full download from this site.

Here are some of the trailers used to promote the game, as well as a short montage of the so-called controversy:
